My work has always been about making sense out of culture and the condition of being human. In each of my various media, I weave together such seemingly diverse images and interests as technology, the science of domesticity, the applied arts, the use of pictorial and graphic languages, folk and fairy tales, religion and mythology. By collecting the small, non-meritorious things of life, things we trash thoughtlessly, yet consume, crave and covet at the moment, objects and possessions we are hypnotized into desiring, I assemble reflections of the secret language of our culture. These symbols are then mixed with the vital aspects of living, such as hunger, thirst, the sex drive, birth, death, infinity, and the higher human abilities of reasoning, decision-making, learning and emotion.

My work is like a hothouse of ideas in which disparate meanings and contexts collide. In the remix, the detritus of human culture exists on the same plane as the more essential aspects of life.

I am returning to the medium of sculpture, which I last exhibited in 1987 because working in three dimensions lets me engage in scavenging the bits and pieces from a modern consumerist culture. These ethereal, floating works, are in a way a search for a lost realm.
