  Lisa Breslow
Press Release

Lisa Breslow had just completed a stunning suite of monotypes in our print shop. Collaborator, Brian Pilliod and Breslow invented a technique to capture Breslow’s rich velvet darks using India toned paper and oil paints.

As a complete change of pace from her rural imagery, the artist made a study of the New York skyline as seen from the Central Park Lake at night. She captures the shimmering lights, the hazy reflections and ghostly white branches fingering the sky, in a soft, dark palette. The suite covers a rainbow of tones while each work is essentially monochromatic. These pieces are an unabashedly romantic tribute to the grace and beauty that is New York at night.

After completing the series, Brian Pilliod saw a parallel between O’Keefe’s focused vision of the flower and Breslow’s study of this ever present New York visage. O’Keefe enlarged the flower; Breslow creates myriad views, colors and moods of a common reality in order to make it more visible.

The artists signed a total of 24 works, all of which are available for your viewing online.   The majority of the work is approximately 30 x 22 inches and is priced at $2800.

We would be happy to share this work with you in person. Please call us if you’d like to come in to see the art or have any questions concerning it.
