China. Travels to Xianghai Nature Reserve in Manchuria, northeastern China, with the International Crane Foundation. Works on the studies for The Crane Series Paintings.
Mongolia. Prepares studies of Mongolian horses for The Mongolian Horse Paintings.
2007
China. Travels to Xianghai Nature Reserve in Manchuria, northeastern China, and Muriavovka Nature Park in eastern Russia with the International Crane Foundation. Works on the studies for The Crane Series Paintings.
Thailand. Visits Tiger Temple in western Thailand, a tiger conservation project initiated by Buddhist monks at a forest Buddhist temple and creates studies for The Tiger Paintings.
Cambodia. Prepares studies for Cambodian Flower Archaeology Monotypes.
2006
Thailand. Artist in residence with The Pang Mapha Highland Archaeology Project, Pang Mapha, Northwestern Thailand near the Burma border, at the invitation of Dr. Rasmi Scoocondej, Professor at Silpakorn University in Bangkok. Visits oldest archaeological sites in Thailand, lives in a Karen village and travels in the northern highlands. Creates The Mang Mapha Highland Archaeology Portfolio, a series of paintings in response to the sacred mountain top and underground archaeological sites.
Republic of the Marshall Islands. Works on drawings.
Hawaii. Research on ancient petroglyphic art for her own cave-wall paintings a nd drawings.
2005
Guatemala. Works on Rainforest Drawings.
New York. Founder of Art in a Box, a 501 (c) (3), nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children at risk or in crisis situations through art and education.
2003
Italy. Travels to Rome and Pompeii. Works on drawings.
Teaneck Creek Conservancy, NJ. Atlantic Flyway Earthwork Project with a grant from the Puffin Foundation
2002
Latvia and Estonia. Art Ambassador for the Arts in Embassies Program. Conducts cultural exchange and public programs in Latvia and Estonia for the Arts in Embassies Program Arts-US Department of State, in conjunction with US Embassies. Organizes a Visual Research Trip to old cultural sites in the Baltics for university students. Conducts art research on the Amber Route for her paintings.
St Petersberg, Russia. Visits the Hermitage.
Havana, Cuba. Travels to Havana on a cultural license to participate in Toxic Landscapes: Artists Look at the Environment, an invitational exhibition of environmental artists.
2001
Thailand. Visiting Artist at Silpakorn University, through a US Embassy grant. Lives in Bangkok and teaches at Silpakorn University, the national Art University. Creates paintings for The Ancient Futures Series, from her studio near The Grand Palace.
Khorat, Thailand.
Develops Art and Ancient Civilizations Research Program and visits Khmer ruins in Northeastern Thailand with Thai professors and graduate students from Silpakorn and Mayasarakam Universities.
Vietnam. Travels to Vietnam as a guest of the Vietnam Red Cross to interview families for a series of paintings, The Agent Orange Journal.
India. Participates in Advaita Vedanta pilgrimage, visits the Himalayas, sacred mountain at Tiravanamali and travels to Kerala. Keeps an artists journal about the sacred mountain at Tiravanamali.
2000
Turkey. Visits The Anatolian Museum of Art and visits Cappadocia in western Turkey to research the cave art.
Laos. Visits temples and travels on the Mekong River. Keeps travel sketchbooks.
1999 Israel, Jordan and Egypt. Visits ancient and historical sites, including Petra. Conducts visual research on Coptic art and ancient manuscript paintings.
Costa Rica. Works on Rainforest Drawings.
1998
Cambodia. Serves as an Official UN Election Observer of the Cambodian National Elections and receives UN training with 600 observes from 34 countries.
Myanmar. Visits ancient temple city in Bagan. Keeps travel sketchbooks.
Morocco. Travels through the Atlas Mountains to the Erg Cheddi.
1994
Cambodia. Writes, photographs and produces To Plant Seeds; To Gather Wood: Landmines in Cambodia, a traveling, educational exhibition of text and photographs documenting the impact of landmines on communities in Cambodia. Exhibited at numerous venues.
Cambodia. Works as a photographer on Soul Survivors, Stories of Women and Children in Cambodia, an oral history book about women and children survivors of the Khmer Rouge. Written by Carol Wagner with 64 photographs by Valentina DuBasky and published by Creative Arts Books, Berkeley (2002), reprinted by Wild Iris Press, Oregon (2007)

France. Visits the Lascaux caves. Works on studies for paintings.

Vietnam. Photographer for The Associated Press on assignment in Vietnam.
Cambodia. Visits Cambodia for the first time two months after the cease fire has been signed.

Malaysia and Indonesia. Begins the Bird and Rainforest Paintings.

India. Works on drawings about The Silk Route.
Nepal. Visit Nature parks and works on travel sketchbooks.

Mexico. Visits the Yucatan, Mexico and creates The Primate Series based on a trip to the Yucatan forest.
1985
Japan. Visits Kyoto and Nara.
The Silk Route, China. Travels to Western China to research Buddhist cave paintings on the Silk Route and to prepare for her own cave wall paintings. Creates The Caravan Series, a collection of bronze sculpture.
1984
Alaska. Travels across Canada and the Inside Passage to Alaska.
1983
Spain, Portugal and France. Begins The Stag Series Paintings.
